Britian and America. They are characterized by their long-hairs, round face and

consider while taking care of a Persian cat.
Brushing your Persian cat
Persian cats have long hairs and thick coat, so they need to
be brushed daily. Their long hairs mats and tangles easily. Brushing will
remove any dirt or shedding hairs. Start brushing your cat at a young age. Make
her enjoy the brushing time, so that she gets used to it. Associate brushing
with a specific time like before or after the meal, so that the would accept

Bath your Persian cat
Persian cats need to bath every other week. Regular bath

cat’s coat to remove any knots or tangles. Fill the bowl with warm water. Put
your cat into the water and let her coat wet. Apply good cat’s shampoo to her

Eye Problems
The eyes of Persian cat may be prone to several problems due
to their peeked face and other facial structures. They could have flattened
muzzles, eye fluid drainage problem, eyelids folded inwards and other eye
problem. Take special care of their eyes and clean them regularly. Best to
consult a veterinarian and know how to prevent such problems.
Clean ears
Check your Persian cat’s ears regularly. Clean them with a
cotton swab or Q-tip. Don’t enter it far inside the ear or you will damage her
ears. If cat tries to scratch her ears or you notice that ears are very dirty,
take her to a vet for infection checkup. While giving you cat a bath, don’t let
water flow into her ears.
Trim Nails
Nails trim your cat’s nails with a cat nail clipper. Don’t
cut too closely, trim only the tip of the nail. Trim you cat’s nails after
almost two weeks. Provide your cat with a good scratching post. Encourage you
cat to use her paws on post.
Litter box
Persian cats have long hairs and beautiful coats, that’s why
it is important to keep them clean. Clean your cat’s litter box every day. If
litter stick to their feet or hairs, they can eat it by trying to remove it. Use
a large pans litter box instead of hooded one. It should be placed in an area
easily accessible to your cat. To keep your Persian cat’s environment clean,
dump litter box completely with new litter at least a month.
Food & Nutrition
Providing your Persian cat proper and high quality food is
very important for her health. Persian cat usually eats dry food. You can make
at home for your Persian kitten. Get some help from a veterinarian or breeder or
they can suggest you a good food brand for your cat. Feed your cat at the same
time every day to develop a routine. Don’t give them bones or uncooked food. Be
careful about giving them excessive milk, since it can cause diarrhea or
stomach problems.
Breathing issues
Persian cats are mostly healthy cats but they have a common
problem called ‘brachycephalic’. This terminology means their nose & nasal
cavities are short and squat resulting narrow nasal passages which can lead to
breathing issues. To avoid from this problems, keep your cat’s nose clean. They
have short nose, so it important to get cleaned to avoid blockage. Booster
vaccines are needed for your Persian cat since they lack a defensive layer in
their nose against germs. If your cat has a labored breathing or sneezing a
lot, take her directly to a veterinarian.
Taking care of Persian cat’s health
Persian cats are one of most beautiful cats in
the world, but there are some specific health concerns only related to them. They
health concerns may be genetic and you may not stop them but you can most
possibly treat them. Your Persian cat requires routine veterinary care,
vaccination schedule and physical observation by a vet. The best thing you can
do is having information of which diseases you Persian cat is more vulnerable
to and then check for any sign of diseases. They may have a kidney disease
called Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) which affect their kidney. But don’t
worry, there is a cure for that. They may have a heart problem called
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. This disease reduces the heart ability to pump the
blood. Routine checkup, checking for any symptoms and having info about
